Stream with OBS Studio
Connect OBS Studio to your aranova.cloud channel with the event's stream URL and key, and tune the output for a stable live stream.
OBS Studio is a free, open-source encoder for Windows, macOS and Linux. Streaming to aranova.cloud takes three steps: copy the event credentials, paste them into OBS, and press Start Streaming.
1. Copy the event credentials
- In the dashboard, open Events and go into the event you want to stream to.
- In the Connect your encoder panel, copy the stream URL.
- Copy the stream key too (press the eye if it shows masked).
2. Set up the output in OBS
- Open OBS and go to Settings.
- Pick Stream in the left column.
- Under Service, select Custom…. Do not look for aranova.cloud in the list: the custom service is the one that accepts the event credentials.
- In Server, paste the stream URL.
- In Stream Key, paste the stream key.
- Click Apply and OK.
Paste with the copy button rather than typing: a trailing space in the key is the most common cause of an authentication error.
3. Recommended output settings
Under Settings → Output and Settings → Video:
| Setting | Recommended value |
|---|---|
| Encoder | x264 (CPU) or the hardware one (NVENC, QSV, AMF) |
| Output resolution | 1080p, or 720p if your upload is tight |
| Video bitrate | 4,500–6,000 kbps at 1080p; 2,500–4,000 kbps at 720p |
| Keyframe interval | 2 s |
| Profile | main or high |
| Audio | AAC, 128–160 kbps, 48 kHz |
The keyframe interval is the setting that affects live playback the most: at 2 seconds the player can switch quality and start quickly.
4. Go live
- Click Start Streaming in OBS.
- In the dashboard, the event badge moves from Offline to Live and the player shows your signal.
- Your audience watches it on the event's public page. If the event uses conditional access, only people on the participant list get in.
5. Stop the stream
Click Stop Streaming in OBS. The event goes back to Offline.
If something goes wrong
- "Failed to connect to server" — check that the URL starts with
rtmp://and that no spaces or line breaks slipped in while pasting. - "Invalid stream key" / authentication rejected — copy the key from the event again; if you changed it, the previous one no longer works.
- The event stays Offline while OBS is streaming — make sure event streaming is enabled and that the URL and key belong to that event.
- Dropouts or buffering — lower the bitrate, switch to 720p, or move the encoder to hardware.
- Audio but no video (or the other way round) — check that the scene has an active video source and that audio is not muted in the mixer.
